This policy lists every cookie Trivolut sets, what each one does and how long it stays. The short version: almost all of our cookies are needed to run our websites or remember a choice you made. One records which partner link you followed, and we only store that part if you agree. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. We also keep a few things in local storage and session storage, similar features of your browser. All of them are covered here.
2. Cookies we set
All Trivolut sites share one account and one set of preferences, so most of these cookies apply to every site on trivolut.com.
| Cookie | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
trivolut_session |
Keeps you signed in and holds your session on every Trivolut site | Until 2 hours without activity |
api_trivolut_session |
Holds a session for our API, only if your browser opens api.trivolut.com directly | Until 2 hours without activity |
trivolut_xsrf |
Protects forms against cross-site request forgery | As long as the session |
remember_web_... |
Only if you choose "Remember me": keeps you signed in | Up to 400 days, or until you sign out |
trivolut_device |
Only if you trust a device during two-factor sign-in: skips the code on that device | 30 days |
trivolut_seen |
Only for our staff, on id.trivolut.com: remembers which staff accounts signed in with this browser, so a sign-in on a new device can be flagged | 400 days |
trivolut_check |
Only while our security check is on: remembers that this browser passed it, so it is not checked again on any Trivolut site. It holds its expiry date, a fingerprint of your browser's user agent and a signature, nothing else | 7 days |
trivolut_cart |
Remembers your shopping cart on trivolut.com | 60 days |
tv_locale |
Remembers your language, when you choose one or open a page in a language | 1 year |
tv_theme |
Remembers whether you chose the light or the dark theme | 1 year |
tv_country |
Remembers the country you chose for prices and VAT in our shop | 1 year |
tv_prices |
Remembers whether you want prices shown with or without VAT | 1 year |
tv_currency |
Remembers the currency you chose for the approximate price shown next to the euro price | 1 year |
tv_announce |
Remembers which announcements you closed, so they do not come back | 1 year |
tv_ref |
Only if you follow a partner's or sponsor's link: remembers the discount code that came with it, so it is applied when you order. If you agree in our cookie notice, it also remembers which link you followed, so the partner can see that their link brought a new account | 30 days, or the period agreed with that partner, at most 1 year |
tv_cookie_consent |
Remembers that you have seen our cookie notice, and your choice in it | 1 year |
preview_token |
Only while trivolut.com is in preview: remembers that you entered the preview password | Up to 400 days |
tv_status_staff |
Only for our staff: shows the staff view of our status page | 12 hours |
3. Your choice
Every cookie in section 2 is either needed for something you asked for, or remembers a choice you made. Under Dutch and EU law such cookies do not need your consent.
The one exception is the part of tv_ref that records which partner link you followed. We only store it if you agree in our cookie notice. If you do not, the discount code still works and the partner still earns commission on your order; they just cannot see that their link brought you. You can change your choice at any time through "Cookie settings" at the bottom of our websites, or in the account menu of your customer panel.
4. Cookies and content from others
Stripe. When you pay on pay.trivolut.com, at checkout, or when you save a payment method in your customer panel, the page loads Stripe, our payment provider, or sends you to Stripe's own payment page. Stripe sets its own cookies there, such as __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid, to prevent fraud. See Stripe's cookie policy.
Cloudflare Turnstile. On the pages to sign in and create an account, the abuse report form and the newsletter form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person and not an automated script. It may store data in your browser to do that. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Our pages load their fonts from Bunny Fonts (fonts.bunny.net), and the bot dashboard on bot.trivolut.com shows server icons from Discord. Your browser sends these services your IP address when it loads them. As far as we know they set no cookies; our Privacy Policy lists them.
5. Local storage and session storage
We keep a few things in your browser's storage rather than in cookies:
- your theme, whether a sidebar in a panel is collapsed, and whether you dismissed a language suggestion or the reminder to turn on two-factor authentication;
- in the game panel: how you like to view files, the layout of the overview, and a domain you typed in the domain tab;
- which announcements you have seen;
- for the support button in the corner of our websites: a reference to your current conversation, which of its tabs was open, and a list of up to 12 recent conversations with the first words of your message and the time, so you can find them again on that device;
- for the security check: a short note in session storage that it has just sent you on to the page, so it can tell you when your browser refused its cookie;
- on our status page: your theme and the period you chose for the charts.
Local storage stays on your device until you clear it; session storage is cleared when you close the tab.
6. What we do not use
- No advertising cookies. The only cookie that records where you came from is the partner part of
tv_ref, and only with your consent. - No third-party analytics, such as Google Analytics.
We count visits to our websites on our own servers, without extra cookies. Our Privacy Policy explains what we record and how long we keep it.
7. Managing cookies
You can view and delete cookies in the settings of your browser. If you block the cookies in section 2, signing in, the shopping cart and some forms will stop working. If you delete tv_cookie_consent, the cookie notice appears again.
8. Changes
When the cookies we use change, we update this page, and its date changes with it.
