This policy describes what Trivolut services may and may not be used for. It applies to every service, and to everyone who uses one, including people you give access to. The short version: anything legal is welcome, as long as it does not harm others, our network or our other customers.
1. Illegal content and activity
You may not use our services for anything that is illegal under Dutch or EU law, or in the country where you live or are established. That includes:
- child sexual abuse material, which we remove and report to the authorities without warning;
- terrorist content, as defined in EU Regulation 2021/784, which we remove and, where the law requires it, report to the authorities;
- fraud, phishing and scams, and selling stolen data or accounts;
- content that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights, including pirated software, and leaked or cracked plugins, mods and server software;
- threats, harassment, incitement to violence and hate speech.
2. Malware and attacks
You may not use our services for:
- hosting or distributing malware, ransomware, botnet control software or exploit kits;
- attacking other systems, including denial-of-service attacks, brute-force attempts, and port or vulnerability scans without the owner's permission;
- accessing systems, accounts or data you are not authorised to access;
- forging network traffic, such as spoofing IP addresses.
3. Email and messaging
You may not use our services for:
- sending unsolicited bulk email or messages, or promoting a service through spam;
- running an open mail relay, or an open proxy that forwards traffic to the internet for anyone without your knowledge (for Tor, see section 4);
- Discord bots that spam, collect user data without permission, or break Discord's Terms of Service.
Outgoing mail ports 25 and 465 are closed on a VPS by default. We open them on request, for example for a mail server you run yourself.
4. Network services
- You may run Tor relays and bridges, a VPN or proxy service for others, and file sharing such as BitTorrent, for content you have the right to share. You are responsible for the traffic of the people who use them.
- You may not run a Tor exit node: the abuse reports it attracts can get a whole server blocked by our providers, and with it the services of other customers.
5. Resources
You may not use our services for:
- anything that harms our platform or other customers, such as sustained load designed to exhaust shared resources;
- mining cryptocurrency, in any form.
6. Game servers
Running a Minecraft server in offline mode is allowed. Distributing the game itself, or paid plugins and mods you have no licence for, is not.
7. Your responsibility
- You are responsible for everything that happens on your services, including through software you run and people you give access to. Keep your software up to date and your servers secured.
- When we forward you an abuse report about your service, respond to it within 24 hours: fix the cause, or tell us why the report is wrong.
- If one of your services is compromised, we may suspend it until it is safe again.
8. What we do about violations
- Where possible, we first ask you to fix the problem and give you a reasonable time to do so.
- In serious cases, when you do not respond to an abuse report in time, or when our platform, our network or other customers are at risk, we suspend the service immediately.
- We may terminate services and accounts for serious or repeated violations. What that means for payments is described in our Refund Policy.
- Where the law requires it, we cooperate with the authorities.
When we remove content or restrict a service, we tell you why, which rule or law it is based on, and whether it was found automatically or reported to us. If you disagree, reply to our message: we look at the decision again and tell you the outcome. You can also go to court.
9. Reporting abuse
To report abuse of a Trivolut service, use the form at trivolut.com/abuse or email abuse@trivolut.com. Include the IP address or domain involved, what happened and when, and any evidence you have, such as logs or email headers.
Authorities and users can reach us under the EU Digital Services Act at abuse@trivolut.com, in English or Dutch.
